The 2012 Soul Train Music Awards will be hosted by Cedric The Entertainer this year. The actual event was recorded at an earlier date in during a 3 day star studded weekend at Planet Hollywood in LasVegas, airs tonight at 8pm on BET. This years Lifetime Achievement Award honorees will be presented to R & B group “New Edition”. A well deserved recognition for Boston, Ma. group was initially created in 1978 with members Bobby Brown, Michael Bivins, and Ricky Bell, they later added Ralph Tresvant and Ronnie DeVoe to complete the team. Johnny Gil also became a member of the crew as well. New Edition redefined the modern day “boy band” and took R&B to levels unheard of.
