The Penn Relays returns to Philadelphia this weekend and we want to say Happy Birthday, Good Luck , and Welcome Eric Futch home to the event where he placed first in the 400H with a time of 51.77 last year as a high school senior . This year he will be returning as a collage freshmen, he is now a University of Houston Cougar and is scheduled to run a for the College Men’s 400m Hurdles Championship which starts Friday April 26, 2013 at 9:00 am and the Men’s 4×400 (Heats) which is scheduled for the same day at 4:15 pm.

Futch is definitely an individual to be commended for his accomplishments, despite his obstacles he continuously worked hard, stayed focused, and achieved numerous goals. As a high school senior he won  2012 IAAF World Juniors 400H Champion (50.24) , 2012 USATF Juniors 400H Champion (50.73), Placed first in the 400H at The Penn Relays Carnival with a time of 51.77… Ran a personal best of 14.14 in the 110H at the Boys Delco Championships, placed first overall… Finished first at the Boys Delco Championships in the 100m with a personal best 10.74 … Took home a first-place finish at the PIAA District 1 Championships with a personal best of 21.23… Member of the 4×400 relay team that finished second at the PIAA Track and Field State Championships… Won both the 200m (21.70) and the 300H (36.63) events at the PIAA Track and Field State Championship as a senior… Named the 2012 Gatorade Athlete of the Year… Holds five team records at Penn Wood.

According to the University of Houston Cougars website, currently Futch is a member of the school-record breaking men’s 4×400 relay team, who placed 10th at the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships (3:08.18)…The team broke the record at the Texas A&M Reveille Invitational with a time of 3:07.60…Relay placed second at the Texas A&M 12-Team Invitational with a time of 3:09.83…Placed first in the men’s 400-meter at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational with a personal record of 47.92…Took the gold in the men’s 200-meter dash at the Howie Ryan Invitational and Multi’s (21.78)… Placed second in the 200m at the Conference USA Indoor Championships with a time of personal record of 21.36…Also, placed second in the men’s 400-meter dash (48.40).
