The surviving members of the legendary R&B group TLC Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas celebrated the group’s 20th anniversary, by teaming up with Japanese artist Namie Amuro to remix the famous single “Waterfalls,” replacing “Left Eye’s” lyrics with Amuro’s.
Reports say, the family of the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes is upset about the decision to leave the late singer out of the song.

According to Freddo.com”… The song is part of a 20th anniversary album released in Japan. The unfortunate thing is that the Lopes family did not know that Left-Eye would be left out of the remix that celebrates 20 years of TLC…. Reigndrop Lopes, tells TMZ that she didn’t know about the song “until a fan posted it online.
The family apparently had no idea the song was being recorded. She says,
“I mean it would have been nice if they would have given us a heads up before being surprised.” Reigndrop Lopes also said her mother was “hurt” by the decision, suggesting the group isn’t honoring her daughter’s memory.“Waterfall” remains one of the group’s most popular songs, largely because of her rap.
Now Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins is responding to the negative reports and defending the groups actions. In a recent interview with Yahoo Music Watkins reveals the real reason Left-Eye’s vocals were taken off the track is because they couldn’t secure the rights to them.
T-Boz states,
“We don’t own the master recording rights to Lisa’s raps on any of our music, and our requests to gain the rights so far have been denied.”
“With the Japanese anniversary edition, we were forced to use creative ways to honor Lisa’s memory and celebrate this milestone with our fans.”…
T Boz also denied the claim stated by Reign Lopez which insinuates, the family was unaware of the decision to utilize the Japanese artist (Namie) for this project, they claimed the contacted Left-Eye’s brother Ron…
“Our management spoke to Ron Lopes (Lisa’s brother) prior to the record being released to let him know that Namie would be performing to ‘Lisa’s’ lyrics,”.
“We have and always will protect our sister’s legacy as TLC consists of the three of us collectively. Although we have and will collaborate with other artists, there will never be a replacement for Lisa or any members in TLC.”
We tried to find the video and it is no longer available on YouTube. Prayerfully the work this all out…
