

This coming Saturday, September 30, 2023, the Free Library of Philadelphia will be hosting an event for the 50 Year Anniversary of Hip Hop.

Most importantly, there will bep recognition and a celebration of Philly’s contributions to hip hop. Which with Philly’s own Lady B (1st female hip hop recording artist in Philly and iconic Hip hop radio personality currently (Radio One) 107.9 Classix) and a panel of Philadelphia notables as they discuss and share their experiences and thoughts on the impact Philly has had on the world of hip hop.

Panelists and special guests include Schoolly D (legendary MC and 1st gansta rapper, Malika Love (legendary MC, Youth Service Coordinator and CEO of The Hip Hop Library), DJ Woody DJ of legendary hip hop group 3X’s Dope and Directorof Yoacap), The Young Flames, Yvette Money (legendary MC, play writer, author CEO of Moolah Entertainment), Tracy Lee ( legendary MC, and lawyer) Cornbread (legendary Graffiti artist), Mimi Brown ( legendary IHeartMedia (WDAS) radio personality, Mickey Factz, ( legendary MC from the Bronx founded Pendulum Ink, an online school for aspiring lyricists). and more. Solomon Jones (Award-winning columnist, iconic author, and radio host) will be the panel moderator.
Following the panel, join us for a block party celebration music with DJ’s Levi Randall and Jayski , dance with local breakdancers, and art from local graffiti artists. Panelists and guests will participate in a meet & greet and sell merchandise. The Hip Hop Library will be distributing free children’s books, backpacks, and school supplies.
