How do I join The Hip Hop Library?
Registration is required for membership to The Hip Hop Library.
Standard Membership: is free and provides limited access to premium content, programs and resources.
Bronze Membership: All standard member perks including early and priority access to library material.
Gold Membership: All standard member perks plus early access to new books and music, and discounts on website merchandises.
Premium Membership: All standard and gold perks plus all access to website virtual library, and resources. Early access to free exclusive giveaways.
What type of content is available in The Virtual Hip Hop Library?
Books centered on hip hop culture.
The virtual library will allow patrons and exclusive members access to books centered on hip hop culture. Members can read or listen to borrowed books. Library will consist of a catalog of hip hop books, photographs, articles and interviews of archived events.
Additional content on The Hip Hop Library’s website will also include a host of links and resources to authors, book stores, and other websites, plus current events in the Hip Hop community.
What type of services does The Hip Hop Library offer?
Below is a list of some of the many services The Hip Hop Library will provide
Virtual and physical library: Includes hardback, paperback, e and audible books. Memoirs, fiction, non fiction and more with the ultimate mission to encourage our communities to read, specializing in hip hop culture.
Prime source of information for research and educational purposes.
Preserving hip hop culture through documentation and sharing of rare chronicles: Interviews, photos, videos, bios, discographies, music and more.
Document Philadelphia’s historical contribution and the significant impact it had on the hip hop industry and culture.
Merchandise Sales: Library merchandise, discarded books at a discounted price, library display and operational services at offsite location.
Tiered Memberships: Bronze, Gold, and Platinum memberships fees. Utilized for library maintenance,
Youth and Community programs: Book clubs, trips, civic engagement, local events
Giveaways: Including books, food banks, technical products, back-to-school giveaways, holiday and promotional giveaways.
Youth and Adult Training: Financial, Literacy, Computer Science, Coding, SAT prep and more.
Book Club: Monthly meetings with potential author guest appearances.
Storytime: “Hip Hop Reads” showcasing hip hop artists reading children’s books for storytime sessions.
Mentoring Programs: For children and youth.
Support and resource network for adults: Parenting resources and financial literacy training programs.
Volunteer opportunities: For high school and college students, and adults.
Employment opportunities: Website maintenance, library function, summer and afterschool programs
Work Study: For college high school and students students interested or studying Library Science, working with children, or simply need community service credits, plus media and arts majors
Summer Enrichment Program: Six week literacy , STEM and STEAM driven, fun, and exciting programs for kids ages 7-14 years old.
After School Program: Operates throughout the academic school year including tutoring, fun and educational activities. Programs include community engagement services. Also an opportunity for college high school and students interested or studying Library Science, Early Childhood Development and more, or simply need community service credits.
