The police officer who killed 18 year-old Michael Brown has resigned from the Ferguson Police Department yesterday(Saturday November 28 ,2014). Although Wilson has been on administrative leave since the Aug. 9th shooting and a grand jury in Ferguson, Missouri found no probable cause to indict him for the tragedy, one of his attorneys: Neil Bruntrager announced the resignation just four months after he fatally shot Micheal Brown. According to Bruntrager: the resignation will be effective immediately.
This past Monday Wilson was cleared of all criminal charges but, it appears as if his legal troubles may not be completely resolved, many legal experts said, ..former police officer can in fact be sued for damages in a civil trial, according to Guster… Instead of having to prove Wilson’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt—such as is the case in criminal proceedings—they’ll have to prove that there is a “preponderance of the evidence” to hold Wilson liable for damages in the wrongful death of their.
Many believe, the resignation is a good thing but not enough. “He still got away with murder!!”, said protestors in Ferguson on one of the news stations.
